Why Custom Furniture? | It Fits you
Our recent custom coffee and end table project highlights why bespoke furniture is a valuable investment in your lifestyle.
With specific size requirements dictated by the living room our clients were having difficulty finding what they wanted at the multiple stores and websites they frequented. Over nearly a year their search took more and more time with nothing to show.
Custom Coffee Tables | Colorado Furniture
After coming across our white paper explanation of the custom furniture process they gained a much better understanding of how making the investment could help achieve their goals for their home without wasting more time and energy.
Their original idea was for a coffee table and one end table. They liked the live-edge slab look but didn’t want a river table or for epoxy to be predominant. Although they didn’t initially realize that it was an option, they gravitated toward steel for the bases. We picked up on the steel idea from some sample pictures they had sent over.
After agreeing on a plan of attack, the first step was slab shopping. We were fortunate to have Baldwin Hardwoods nearby to visit in person. A significant task for your shop here is education - things to look for in a slab, options for building, how to divide things, etc. Your shop should work with you to facilitate your best possible decisions.
Live Edge Slab Furniture | Explore Your Options
The two slab finalists were opposites in character. One was regal, but somewhat serene. The walnut grain was even, straight and beautiful. The other was more striking visually - wilder grain, interesting shapes. The choice was pure preference.
Their initial decision favored the more sedate slab. At the proverbial eleventh hour, however, they went back into the gallery one more time. With the freedom to choose they decided on the other piece.
With slab in hand, we realized that it was big enough to make a second end table. The custom furniture process allows on-the-fly changes. For your ideas to evolve and mature.
One of the things to look for in a shop is their level of communication. Are you getting build updates along the way? Do you want them? Some folks love seeing the progress of their investments. Others just want the end product. The process can, and should, be tailored to what works for you.
Custom Furniture Is Fun | We All Need More Fun
After a few weeks of building and updates, delivery day was upon us. While building is fun, it’s immensely gratifying to see the excitement of clients during delivery. And when they say that we captured their ideas and desires perfectly, well, that’s the icing on the cake. It’s why we build.
We often say that hand built furniture is an investment in your lifestyle. This build showed nicely how the investment of time and energy gives a great return. Instead of wasting time traveling to stores hoping they have what you want, your efforts are rewarded directly. You get what you want, what works for you. It’s where your ideas come to life.
The question isn’t why you should choose a custom coffee table for your space-constrained living room. It’s why you wouldn’t. Invest in your lifestyle. You’ll be glad you did.
